With the basics in place these developed skills are now used to expand student learning. Learning to read in the primary grades is replaced by reading to learn.
Reading and speaking fluency are more pronounced and expected. By these grades, phonemic skills are mastered, as new multi-syllabic words in science or social studies cannot be memorized. Much emphasis is placed on the child’s need to develop good organizational skills and study habits that will facilitate future success in school. The Math Program is guided by state standards which are adapted to the ability of the learner. Students in these grades are very familiar with the basic capacity of the computer as a tool for organizing data and writing papers and reports.
Throughout the year a variety of activities are instituted to insure growth and responsibility. Each student is offered a wide range of learning opportunities with emphasis on Christian formation.
